Kangaroo Valley Show Cancelled
It is with deep regret that the A&H Committee has decided to cancel the 2022 Show due to the current Covid situation.
This decision has been taken after much deliberation and consultation with many of our volunteers. It has been a painful process for all of us who give so much of our time and energy to the Show, which we believe is a very important institution in the life of Kangaroo Valley.
Concerns for the wellbeing of all those involved in running the Show, the uncertainty that we can actually run an acceptably ‘safe’ event without causing significant spread of Covid in the community and the very real risk that key organisers may not be able to fulfil their roles due to illness or the requirement to isolate have all been important considerations in making this decision.
We are also conscious of the strain our health, education and other systems are under and it doesn’t feel appropriate to hold an event of this size under these circumstances.
We understand the disappointment this cancellation will cause for some in the community. For others the decision will bring a sense of relief. We recognise that the cancellation of the Show is yet another disruption to our lives that the pandemic has wrought and the huge impact that it has had on all of us.
The Committee was ‘Show ready’ and would like to thank all our volunteers and generous sponsors who have so far contributed so much. We will be in touch with our sponsors to discuss the management of any donations already made.
We also appreciate the support shown by the community in embracing the online membership and ticket sales through Eventbrite. For those not wanting to hold over their membership/tickets for the 2023 show, we will honour refunds for any who wish to claim.
We remain committed to the KV Show, its traditions, friendly competition and wonderful spirit of friendship and celebration. We look forward to a 2023 Show and hope for easier times ahead for everyone.
