Kangaroo Valley Show

16th-17th February 2018

Two days of family fun.

Results for the 2017 Show are now available

Held over the 2 days of the show in 4 separate rings, our horse events are one of the mainstays of the show. From under 12’s through to our open age groups… if you’ve got a horse or pony then saddle up! Categories include Junior events, Show Jumping, Stock Horses, Sporting, Hacks and Heavies, Harness and Miniatures as well as our Team sorting competitions.

Dairy Cattle

Still a major industry in Kangaroo Valley, come and see our local dairy producers in action. Our verdant valley allows all resident Holstein and Jersey cows to produce some of the best milk and dairy products in the state. Cows, heifers and calves are in the spotlight. Come along and see what great body conformation and a well hung udder are all about!

Beef Cattle

We have 9 different breed categories to enter in the open judging competition so get those cattle broken in! A great way for our junior beefies to get involved is via the Junior Judging Competition in which each entrant judges 3 groups of cattle. How do you judge a bull?… the length of its horns or its scrotal circumference?… come along and find out. Our paraders will also be in action.

Come along and meet our fine feathered friends. The competition is fierce among our usual entrants…clearly they do give a cluck! What’s the difference between a softfeather and a hardfeather?. With so many classes and so many breeds you’re bound to have a favourite. Don’t be a turkey…leghorn it to the poultry pavilion for an avian abundance of fun!

From a professional All Breeds Championship Dog Show to the popular Dog High Jump to the many Children’s Dog Events such as the Dog Obstacle Race, there is no shortage of dog activities.

Grand Parade

The Grand Parade.

The Children’s competition events include Bicycle Races (sprint, go slow & obstacle races for primary school ages), the Dog Obstacle Race, Fancy Dress, Pet show (judging of a range of children’s pets) and ‘Pet’s Puppies & Dogs’ (judging of various dog attributes).

Ranging from jewellery, toys, clothing, crafts, art, farm machinery and so much more! The A & H Dining Room can be found in the Kangaroo Valley Hall.

The Ironperson event is great fun for both competitors and spectators. The competitors race around a set of challenges including sack races, jumps, rope nets and much more. There are male and female races in four age groups (12 years and under, 13–17 years, 18–44 years and 45 years and over).

Hay Rolling

Those living in rural areas may have seen sights such as this, yet those in city areas perhaps not. This is the very important rural activity of making hay bales for livestock feed. This team event is not for those who don’t like strong exercise! Take one large round hay bale and roll it with team mates as fast as you can to the finish line! Simple? - Yes! Easy? - No!

The Woodchop Event is always a fantastic spectator event. It’s not always the strongest that wins! All competitors line up & the first to chop through the wood wins. There are a variety of competitions including Underhand, Standing Block, Treefelling and Junior & Handicap Underhand events.

Talent Quest

The Talent Quest is a fun competition for groups and individuals of all ages. There is no restriction to the ‘talent’ that the performers delight the audience with. Dancing, singing, magic, poetry, theatre, whip cracking and much more! Acts are no longer than 3 minutes and are in three age groups (11 years and under, 12–17 years & 18–70+ years).

The Rodeo is always a spectacle to watch. It’s daring, fast and exciting! Wow do those bulls buck and it’s nail biting to see how long the riders can hold on for. It’s also entertaining watching the clowns trying to get the bulls back in the pens at the end of the rides! Competitions include the 10–14 year old Poddy Rides, 14–17 year old Junior Steer rides and the Adult Steer & Bull Rides.

On the Friday evening the talent quest is hotly contested and open for all ages, talents and abilities. Later in the evening a local band in the bar area will play until the end of day one. On Saturday, there will once again be a live band playing at the bar until 11.00pm for those wanting to kick up their heels.
